The Piece that Completes

Happy Monday to our CFC Family;

During Christmas week, Lenise and I decided to work on a puzzle together. The one she chose was a vibrant winter scene with birds, and a golden retriever puppy sitting in the snow in front of them. As a bird lover and golden retriever owner, it’s easy to understand why she picked this particular puzzle.

When it comes to assembling puzzles, there’s  probably nothing more frustrating than realizing that some pieces are missing. Last night, as we worked on it together, our dog Duke was lying on the floor beside our table. Suddenly, Lenise noticed that he was chewing on something and quickly discovered that he had a soggy, distorted puzzle piece in his slobbering mouth. After struggling to retrieve it from his stubborn grip, it was too late—the piece was ruined.

In the coming days, we will likely finish the puzzle. Nearly every piece will find its place, except for that one Duke “rearranged.” The puzzle will be done,  but not complete.

As we enter into the new year, many people will set plans and goals they hope to achieve in 2025. Some will accomplish them with great enthusiasm and dedication, but for many, if they were honest with themselves, no matter how impressive their achievements may be, they will never bring lasting contentment or fulfillment.

The reason is simple: much like that puzzle, when there’s a “peace” (spelling intentional) missing from our lives, no accomplishment, no matter how great, can ever make us feel whole.

Many people, unaware of the true cause of their emptiness will try to fill that void with things like money, fame, success, and relationships. But each time, the piece won’t fit. And the reason it won’t fit is because it is only Jesus can complete the picture of our lives.

For 2025, my prayer is that each of you will allow Jesus to fill that spiritual void that we were created with. Life is very much like a puzzle—filled with confusion, uncertainty, and moments when you aren’t sure how things will come together. But for those who place their faith in Jesus, you can be assured that if you allow Him to be part of the completed picture, you will one day look back and see that your life became something truly beautiful.

Jesus is that one puzzle piece that completes our lives. He is holding it, waiting for us to ask Him for it. And that’s the key!  Asking Jesus to complete our lives and take control of every part of our being.

Yes, the picture that represents our lives may many times include dark colors and challenging scenes, but trust me—when you take a step back and see the masterpiece that God has created, in the end you will realize that putting your trust in him was the most important decison of your life.

“I remain confident of this:  I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Psalm 27:13-14

Question:  What area in your life will you need to trust God more in 2025?

Have a wonderful week and we’ll see you this this Sunday and next year in 2025!
