Happy Monday to our CFC Family! This past Sunday morning, during my message, I casually mentioned that during my week off, I planned to motivate myself to walk every day. Nothing too crazy—just a daily stroll in the fresh air. I mean, I didn’t say I was going to run ten miles or start a forty-day fast, just some simple walking. After the service, while shaking hands, several people told me they’d be checking in next week to see how I did. I couldn’t help but laugh!
Now that I’ve stating my plan out loud and knowing that they’ll be asking me about it, you can bet that nothing is going to keep me from fulfilling my promise this week! Just like the postal service motto says that, “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom…” will keep them from delivering the mail... so too nothing is going to stop me from my daily walk. Yet, unlike the postal workers on strike, I’m 100% committed to keeping my promise!
As we enter this Christmas season, we are reminded of God's incredible faithfulness in keeping His promises. From the very first prophecy in Genesis 3:15, where God declares His intention to “crush the serpent’s head,” to the hundreds of Messianic prophecies promised throughout the Old Testament, we see a clear pattern of God's unwavering commitment to fulfill His plan of salvation.
In Isaiah, God prophesies that the Savior will be called “Immanuel, God with us” (Isaiah 7:14), and “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Words that offer hope and assurance that God would send a Redeemer to reconcile humanity to Himself.
Throughout Scripture, God has consistently proven that He does not go back on His word. From the earliest promises made to Abraham, the patriarchs, and the people of Israel, God has always been faithful. Even when circumstances seemed impossible, His promises remained certain. As we reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ, we see the fulfillment of these promises in a tangible, life-changing way. Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah, came to fulfill everything God had promised throughout the ages and it changed the world forever!
This Christmas season, we can take great comfort in knowing that just as God kept His promises in the past, He continues to be faithful to His word today. Whatever promise He has made, He will keep and He will fulfill. No matter what we face, we can trust that God will always be true to His word, and His promises will never fail.
From the very beginning, God clearly vocalized what he was going to do—not so that we would hold HIM accountable, but so that we would hold OURSELVES accountable! Because unlike God, we tend to forget what he has promised for us and give up on our hope in him when things seem to get too dark.
And so this Christmas season, focus on his promises. Not only on those that he fulfilled two thousand years ago, but also to the ones he has revealed to his children for the future. For just as wonderful and life changing those past promises were, so to will be those that await our world for those who put their faith in him!!
Question: What are some promises that awaits us forthe future?
Have a blessed week, and I’ll see you…..NEXT Sunday!
