Educating yourself in a Crucial hour

Happy Monday to our CFC family! After the beautiful and meaningful season of the Resurrection Week, a time of reflection, renewal, and deep gratitude for the hope we have in Christ, we now find ourselves just one week away from what I believe could be one of the most important elections of our lifetime. While the peace and joy of last week still linger in our hearts, so now does the weight of responsibility as we prepare to make choices that will shape the future of our nation. This is not a moment to be taken lightly or approached with indifference. Elections carry real consequences, and the direction we choose matters—not only for us, but for our children and the generations to come. As I shared a couple of weeks ago, I won’t use this platform to tell anyone how to vote. However, I do want to strongly encourage each of you to take the time to educate yourselves on what each party truly represents. Don’t rely solely on mainstream headlines or filtered narratives to guide your voting decisions. Make a conscious choice to dig deeper. Read the party platforms. Look into the history of the candidates themselves and what decisions they have made in recent years? What do their records say about their priorities and convictions? Listen closely to the candidates themselves, and perhaps even more importantly, pay attention to what they’re not saying. Silence on key issues often speaks volumes. Above all, pray! Pray for wisdom. Pray for discernment and pray for the future of our country. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the candidates running in my area. I came prepared with all my pressing questions. I didn’t hold back and while remaining kind and respectful, I wanted to know exactly where he stood on issues that directly affect me and my family. When our conversation ended, I took a few moments to pray over him, asking the Lord to guide his steps and grant him wisdom. Over the years, I’ve observed that here in Canada, the church has largely taken a hands-off approach when it comes to elections. Whether at the federal or local level, there’s been an unspoken belief that politics is a secular issue—something private, separate from faith, and best left unspoken within the church. Because of this attitude, we’ve allowed small but loud minority voices, often rooted in pagan or secular worldviews to dominate the conversation and claim the spotlight. As a result, we’ve watched as immoral stances on family, education, and the role of government have swept through our communities. And now, many of us barely recognize the country we’re living in. Church friends, this is not the time to sit back. This is a time to stand with conviction, to be informed, to speak truth in love, and to pray without ceasing. Our voice matters. Our vote matters. And above all, our witness matters. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34 May we seek God’s wisdom, stand boldly for truth, and use our influence with courage and faith. Question: Outside of mainstream media what tools have you used educate yourself for your voting decision? Have a blessed week and we’ll see you Sunday! |
