Angels among us

Happy Monday to our CFC family!

Yesterday morning on our way to church, it was one of those picture-perfect, bright autumn prairie mornings, with the sun shining brilliantly across the fields. Lenise put on her new sunglasses, and almost immediately she spoke up with a bit of concern in her voice, “You see those spots all over the door windows, right?” For a brief second, the teaser in me was tempted to take this funny moment to the next level by saying, “No, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” but I quickly refrained and assured her that I saw them as well through my own sunglasses. She let out a relieved laugh and said something like, “Good! I thought I was going crazy for a moment!”

She then asked me, “Why in the world are there spots on the glass?” With my limited knowledge on the subject, I did my best to explain that these spots happen to the glass when it is tempered in the factory. Without the sunglasses, the windows looked perfectly clear, but with them on, suddenly those hidden dots became visible.

After a few minutes of reflecting on this, Lenise then spoke up and said, “That would make a perfect topic for your weekly email! How the angels and the spiritual world that is around is here protecting and guiding us, even though we can’t see it.”

I couldn’t have agreed more and so here I am writing about this amazing reality a day later!

There are many times in life when we don’t feel the Lord’s presence. We look around at the pressures, responsibilities, and struggles of daily life and wonder, “God, are You really with me?” Yet Scripture reminds us that His presence surrounds those who love and serve Him. His protection is constant—even when invisible.

Imagine if God allowed us to “put on spiritual lenses” for a moment. We would be amazed at the heavenly activity around us: angels ministering, God’s hand guiding, His Spirit guarding and strengthening us. Just like those dots in the glass, His presence has been there all along—we just don’t always see it.

This truth is beautifully illustrated in 2 Kings 6. Elisha’s servant woke up terrified after seeing an enemy army surrounding their city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” he cried. But Elisha calmly replied, “Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then he prayed, “Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.” (2 Kings 6:16-17)

Suddenly, the servant’s eyes were opened, and he saw the hills filled with horses and chariots of fire—God’s heavenly army already in position, already protecting them. Nothing had changed except his ability to now see what was real.

My prayer for you this week is that God would open the eyes of your heart. Not necessarily to see angels or miraculous signs with your physical sight, but to recognize by faith the unseen presence of God surrounding your life. You are never abandoned. You are never alone. You are never without divine protection.

That if the Lord were to lift the veil for even a moment, you would see that you are completely surrounded by His care.

Be encouraged today church family because, “Those who are with us are more than those who are against us.” 2 Kings 6:16

Question: How might your life look differently if you remembered that God’s unseen protection surrounds you every day?”

Have a great week and we’ll see you Sunday!
