Born For Us
By Helen Klassen
Dark was the night and dark our sin when Jesus Christ was born,
He left His glorious home on high to take on human form.
Rememb'ring the angel's promise true that a Saviour she would bear,
Mary was willing to pay the price - the reproach of man to wear
Love so pure, so strong, so true, came down to earth that night
When God gave up His only Son to give us hope and light.
Shepherds on Bethlehem's hills were told, by angel hosts on high,
That Christ the Lord had come at last, for us to live and die.
Into the town they ran and found the Christ so meek and mild.
They worshipped Him in wond'rous awe, this holy, blessed child.
Emmanu'l, meaning God with us, Gave hope to sinful hearts
That God had not forgotten man, grace to us He imparts.
Hearts of sin He'll make white and clean, if in faith we come to
Him,
Believing He died and rose for us, to cleanse us from our sin.
Only a sinless Lamb of God could pay the price of sin.
He only could unlock the gates of Heav'n and let us in.
Open your hearts to Him today, Do not turn Christ away,
Say "There's room, O blessed Saviour, be Lord of my life alway".
Then this Christmas will be joyful, and the season truly bright,
For the loving Saviour's tender call, has been heard by you tonight! |
