Beautiful

It must be fun to paint the sky
with the colors of the sun;
to invent blue, purple and red-
to add new light to ordinary colors
everyday.
It must be fun to color the air.
God must be smiling
while He stretches the clouds
across the sky
in different lines,
spreading them like cotton,
swirling grey and white webs
in the wind.
It must be fun to breathe life into life.
The colors he uses in spring
to revive the trees
with tender green curls,
or to coax red and yellow
flowers from the earth,
in their vivid detail
move me.
God must be a painter.
It must be fun
to draw my smile.
I am flattered,
and aspire
to be beautiful. |
