Why Develop Small Groups?

1) We believe it is within relationships, that Christianity has it's greatest practical impact.

2) Small groups provide the most effective means of carrying out the biblical directives given to the body of believers...found in the "one another" verses:

Love one another
Care for one another
Encourage one another
Pray for one another
Bare on another's burdens
Build each other up

3) Small groups are the primary means for care giving and care receiving.

4) It is a prayer based ministry, giving opportunity to see God's power work in individual lives as we pray with and for fellow believers.

5) It is the most effective way to incorporate newcomers into the life of our church, making them feel accepted, and providing the optimum care for them.

6) The outreach possibilities are incredible; it compliments the lifestyle process, evangelism strategy...we can identify our care / contact...pray for one another and invite non-believers into the group.

7) Leaders are identified and trained on a consistent basis, using the mentoring principle in the discipleship process.

8) Spiritual gifts are identified, encouraged and utilized as we minister to one another in the group. They are also used to reach out to others outside the group.

9) Small groups provide the needed encouragement for believers in the discipleship process.
