Preschool
The Preschool Department here at the CFC is
aimed specifically at the parents of preschool
age children. We have many different programs
that run throughout the year. Some programs are
on a fairly relaxed basis where we meet the
needs of the families as they arise, other
programs are scheduled and carry on come rain or
shine. Here is a basic run-down of our programs:
1) A weekly Sunday
school class running every Sunday
morning from 9:00-10:00. This is for
moms and their children ages 0-24
months.
2) A weekly Tuesday
morning program - "Moms morning out with
Annette". This runs from 9:30am to 11am with
coffee and conversation from 9:30am to 10am
and a light and easy bible study from
10am to 11am. Preschool children are
welcome. This program gives moms the
chance to get together away from the
business of Sunday mornings and to form
friendships based on the similarities or
differences in their lives. Conversation
is uplifting, encouraging and fun - who
doesn't need that! The bible study deals
with parenting issues, marriage and the
idea of older women mentoring younger
women.
3) A "Meals for Moms"
program that provides meals for families
after the birth or adoption of a child.
This is a vital program where the
objective is to nurture our young
families and take a step toward them in
a very physical and yummy way.
4) A pink or blue
blanket is given as a gift to each
family after the birth or adoption of a
child.
5) Parent/child
dedication services are held twice a
year. During this service, parents
promise to raise their child in a
Christian home using our Heavenly Father
as their ultimate parental example.
6) A photo-board in the
nursery where the cutest of our
congregation can be displayed.
7) A graduation ceremony
- with a grad hat and diploma - at the
end of August where we celebrate all of
our children who have or are turning 2
during the year. The significance of
this ceremony is to say that they are no
longer in the nursery department but
have graduated into the Sunday school
department. Following this service is a
celebratory pizza party for all the
grads, their families, as well as all of
CFC's preschool families.
In Matthew 25:34-40, it talks about how we are
to feed, give to drink, clothe, be hospitable
to, and visit others in need. When we give of
ourselves in these ways, we are actually serving
Him. Verse 40b says, "Truly I say to you, to the
extent that you did it to one of these brothers
of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to
Me." Our goal in the CFC Preschool Department is
to care for each other and to be a visual
reminder of Matthew 25:40. |
